It was our pleasure to once again be a part of the Festival of Voice. The biennial arts festival, which is centred around the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff Bay, returned this year and we provided sound equipment and audio tech support for various venues across the city.
This included installing our EAW KF740 rig in the Donald Gordon theatre, along with our new Avid VENUE Profile mixing console at front of house, and trusty Yamaha M7CL on monitors. We had great fun at the DGT working with the likes of Billy Bragg, Elvis Costello, Passenger, Gruff Rhys (who played his new album backed by his band and the entire BBC National Orchestra of Wales!), and Charlotte Church, who once again proved that there is no limit to her imagination!
At the Weston theatre we used our new Axiom powered line array system, along with EAW MW10’s and Logic Systems LM8’s as monitors, which proved to be a hit with local stars The Gentle Good and Gwenno! We also had the privilege of working with Tank and the Bangas and Icelandic rap collective Reykjavíkurdætur!
Our Coda PA system (including our brand new Coda G18 subs) proved to be a suitably discreet option at the beautiful St. Johns church, where we had the honour of working with the wonderful Laura Veirs and the godmother of punk rock, Patti Smith!
At the New Theatre we provided an EAW KF730 rig as the main PA system with our handy Apogee SSM’s as in-fills at the front of the stage. This proved to be a brilliant combination for the beautiful sounds of Susanne Sundfør and Novo Amor, and also for ‘Epilog’, a show which celebrated the Welsh language rock-operas of the 1970’s.
We would like to thank the Festival of Voice team for choosing us and for being a pleasure to work with once again. Thank you to the in-house staff at all the venues, and thanks to our friends at Ev-ents as ever.
